Character Information

Name: Lann
Canon: World of Final Fantasy
Canon Point: The second confrontation with Brandelis, where Lann sacrifices himself to imprism him.
Age: 15
History: The FF wiki is pretty comprehensive as far as their backstory, but wikipedia has a better description of the game's plot.
Personality:

While he would probably like to think of himself as calm and in control, Lann is actually very emotional and extremely bad at hiding his feelings. Bad at hiding anything really. His tendency to wear his heart on his sleeve makes him a pretty poor liar. Quick to panic at unexpected situations, complete with melodramatic yelling and flailing, but oddly he's just as quick to calm down. He can go from 'this is completely insane' to 'lets have some coffee' in about ten seconds. If something strikes him as funny, he'll laugh. Even when wiser people might consider it inappropriate. And he just loves dumb puns. Because of course he does. He's also got quite a hot temper, and is quick to argue and pick fights. Again though, he's also very willing to forgive and forget once it's over. Lann doesn't really hold grudges over little things like that. Which might be one of the reasons he makes friends so easily.

It could be said that Lann is not the brightest crayon in the box, but that's probably understating the issue. Put more bluntly, he's an idiot. He constantly gets terms confused, like 'reek' for 'wreak,' or 'in bed' for 'embed.' Sometimes he'll even make up his own words, like 'instanding.' He barely has a grasp of grade school math, and thus is utterly baffled when his sister tries to explain the concept of a googleplex. In fact, any explanation that gets even the slightest bit long or complicated is likely to cause his eyes to glaze over and his brain to just shut down. Of course, he also tends not to listen when people explain things to him which doesn't really help. He also has an unfortunate tendency to just accept things at face value. It never even occurs to him to question the suspicious prophecy that he and his sister are expected to fulfill.

Confident by nature, Lann is not the type of person to hesitate. He makes decisions quickly, often without thinking them through, and often rushing recklessly into danger. He charges into the first murkrift they find without a second thought and touches the suspicious panels on the chain road twice before he finally decides that maybe he should listen to his smarter, more cautious sister. He's also usually the first one to offer help to the various people they meet, often forgetting that he and Reynn have important things to do as well. He takes these commitments seriously though and is willing to go pretty far out of his way for a friend. He's especially protective of Reynn and often throws himself in the way of danger to protect her.

The unfortunate flipside of his natural confidence in himself is that it often borders on arrogance. It's this arrogance that has him flippantly waving away his father's concern about the growing army of mirages that he and Reynn had been collecting. And of course he and Reynn knew better than thier parents and sister and trying to summon gods from distant world is always a good idea. Spoilers: it wasn't a good idea. But at his core, Lann is a good person. Once he truly understands what they did and why it was wrong, Lann is very dedicated to fixing the mistake. He's even willing to sacrifice himself to rid Grymoire of Brandelis.

Abilities:
Lann is a mirage keeper, which means he can trap creatures in small objects called prismariums and summon them to fight for him. If you think this sounds like final fantasy pokemon, you're right. The major difference is that Lann can stack with the mirages, literally riding on larger ones and balancing smaller ones on his head. This allows them to combine abilities somehow.

In game terms if he ever gets one of his prismariums back it'll just function as a summoned creature.

Enna Kros also gave Lann and Reynn the ability to shrink down to the size of the inhabitants of Grymoire at will.

He also has decent skill with unarmed combat and can make a good cup of coffee.

Strengths: reliable, decisive, friendly, brave, resilient
Weaknesses: idiot, reckless, prone to arrogance, impatient, bad at hiding his feelings

God/Shinki: Shinki
Why?: Between his tendency toward dangerous arrogance and his lack of intelligence, he'd be a terrible god.
Cause Of Death: Sacrificed himself to imprism Brandelis
Vessel: A silver gauntlet with a glowing yellow gem embedded in it.
Name Location: The back of his right hand.
Power: Spiritual Barriers

Lann's god will be able to pull ayakashi into a spiritual barrier roughly the size of a city block that will both prevent the ayakashi from escaping and protect the surrounding area from collateral damage. Human bystanders will never get pulled into this, but any nearby gods, shinki, or spiritual beings can. Of course, once you're in there you still have to fight the angry ayakashi you just trapped in a spiritual prison with yourself.
